People shouldn’t dwell on the past. It's enough to try your best in all that you're doing now. - Ikeuchi Aya

How would you be if you couldn't walk freely anymore?

How would you be if you couldn't talk anymore?

How would you be if you couldn't move anymore?

How would you be if you're aware of anything around you, but you can't to anything?

1 Litre of Tears (1リットルの涙, Ichi Rittoru no Namida) (also called A Diary with Tears or A Diary of Tears) , the true story of a Japanese girl named Ikeuchi Aya who is only 15 years old, who suffered from spinocerebellar ataxia which is an incurable disease. Slowly she would fall over unexpectedly and she wouldn't be able to balance when walking. Then she would it difficult to swallow and talk. When she talked she wouldn't be able to pronounce words properly. However, she kept writing in her diary to remember her experiences until she could no longer hold a pen. Aya simply wished to live until the end of her life, and the purpose of writing in the diary was to remind herself to not give up. She shed tears many times, at the same time was encompassed by the rich love and support from her family, friends, and boyfriend.

When I was watching this drama, I didn't know that this was based on a true story. I'd heard that some people didn't like this drama because it's so cliche but the fact that it's based on a true story really tugs at your heart. Seeing how her life evolved from being a happy-go-lucky healthy child to being bed-ridden by her early twenties, it provides an element of reality knowing that this happened to someone and this is her story. 1 Litre of Tears is a really encouraging story and after the death of Aya, her diaries were published and sold over 1 million copies in Japan alone. I'm now on the hunt for this book! If you see it in the bookshops, please let me know!

I watched 7 episodes of 1 Litre of Tears last night till almost 2am yesterday! The story is just so moving and addictive!... and then I just finished the rest of the episodes tonight. There's only 11 episodes and now my eyes are all swollen and puffy from all the crying... I tell you, the last episode is a killer. The tears just couldn't stop rolling out including the snot! Yeah... this drama really stuffed up my nose too! =S

So yeah if you get the chance, watch this Japanese drama! I think it's decent - well if it made me cry, it gets my thumbs up - and plus the lead girl is really cute. The lead guy is cute too ... but more towards the fact that he has a really caring heart.
